Boat Kids Sunblock
As we enter the warmer months, and schools finish up, it is more likely that you pile into the family car and head off on vacation or just a weekend trip. Here are some things you need to know and do to help keep all safe.
1. Make sure your car is in tip-top condition. This means that control of the tires, battery, fluids, belts, and air conditioner. This is especially true if you must run in a warmer climate, and / or towing something like a boat or trailer that can bring put pressure on your vehicle.
2. Make sure you are in top condition. That means getting a good night's sleep. Driver drowsiness is allegedly the cause to thousands of accidents a year, so be well rested before you go on this excursion. Better yet, share the driving duties every couple of hours with another adult.
3. Pack your emergency kit. You never know when disaster will interrupt your trip, so it is best to be prepared. You'll want to have items such as food and water, flashlight, blankets, first aid kit, tools, Jumper cables, flares, and a cell phone, to name the essential.
4. Check these child safety seats. It has been reported that up to 80 percent of child safety seats are incorrectly installed! This can lead to serious injury to your young children in the event of a collision or even a hard stop. To avoid this, have your child safety seats inspected by a professional for proper installation.
5. Check the back seat. While we're looking in the back seat and talking on hard stops, you must investigate what else is back there. Loose objects can become projectiles in case of a heavy braking situation, so be sure to save entries in seats or in the trunk. Also, just as you would in your home, make sure there are no choking hazards (Loose Change, handles and knobs that can come loose, etc.) that young children can get their hands on.
6. Keep the weight. Similar to the previous tip, heavier items (strollers, suitcases, etc.) should also be properly stored and secured in the trunk or in a cargo area where they will not cause an injury if they come loose.
7. Be safe in the sun. Even when you ride in the car, you and your children may be exposed to the sun. So Be sure to equip everyone with sunglasses and sunblock. For smaller children, you may even want a sun bonnet and / or a parasol on the windows. If it's a hot day, also remember that when you return to the vehicle if it has been parked in the sun, the seats can be hot enough to burn a baby's skin. And, of course, Never ever leave your child alone in the car.
