Ear piercing?
I'm going to get the top part of the cartilage in my ear pierced. And I was wondering a few things. I have two piercings on both ears on the overlap, but no more.-On a scale of 1 to 10 What is the pain of getting a cartilage piercing?-it will be done at the mall safe?-Is needle or gun safe?-Can you have a loop earing insert if you do it with a gun?-Would I like … never be able to sleep on the side of my head again?-Har pains continue even weeks after?-Do you go in the ring after you get the hole, or you can take it out? haha …. quite nervous … can you tell?-What are the chances of infection? Can you take it out to sleep with it … that night or the night after?
The chance of infection is really depends on how well you take care of your piercing, and also how often you "play" with it after your ears are pierced. Be sure to follow all after care instructions you are given by the piercer, and do not move earring around (except when cleaning) before it heals. A cartilage piercing hurts, I will not lie! Scale from 1-10, my pain under (5), by (8), and even some times now (8 years) (6). I also have several other piercings, and out of them all, the worst damage to the cartilage. I could not sleep on that side, it took forever for that it will grow, and my piercing was done at an angle, and apparently is too close to a nerve because I can use only one earring in a short period – definitely can not sleep with an earring in! My friend got her ready when I got mine (we did it together), and she has never had any problems with her. She was pierced crooked though, as mine was. Also I have never had any problems with any of my other piercings, only this one. Something to consider. Make sure you go to a reputable place to get it done (Mall's okay I guess – I went to a professional piercer), and make sure you see the piercer take the needle out of a sanitary package. You will not be able to wear a hoop until it is completely healed. I hope I was able to answer all your questions, but answers are not necessarily in the order you asked the question!
