Why should South Africans continue to discriminate skin color?

I am a white lady & last week I was the only white woman (middle management) in a board meeting. (Was directors, senior management and middle managers got together with the chairman of the company.) 20 people were presant – 2 women and 18 men of different races. The President asked our input on a statement and I replied, without any comment on any race, just a honist opinion he (the President – he is a colored man) made the next commnet: "It is now a real white lady answers. "What should I do? You people can give me an input.

its hard. it runs deeper than skin deep. after so many years of apartheid, feelings cannot change overnight. with such comments, dont pay to listen to it. he is still angry with the whites. sometimes we hv to see the place and decide if we want say something tt can trigger some racial thingy. the tough balancing this so that we never know how the next person thinks. also, sometimes we speak last, let others speak CR. pl dont dwell too much into this. test will be on the way he runs the company. if he is still affecting it will show. probably time to move on if it affects u directly

During the operation? (For medical personnel, etc.)?

I am thirteen and want to become a Trauma Surgeon. And I'm not sure if it is right for me. I think I can handle blood and guts, and so on. But when I see someone has a big cut or a broken leg, my image of myself as a person and freeze up. And during surgery I would not want it happening to me. I have thought being a surgeon many times, but I keep thinking that I will be fine. I want to be a Trauma Surgeon, because I want to help people who have serious needs, and believe it is more interesting than other operations. Is it normal for surgeons to freeze up once in a while during the operation? Should I start out as something small and work my way up (ER Nurses, Surgical Assistant)? I have tried to talk to many Surgeons face to face. But they have always busy (which is no good for me). Or I can never find a surgeon to talk to. And if I spoke to one, I think it would help me with my future.

Although many say that surgeons do not freeze over, and many surgeons agree to save face, we do. I began my orthopedic / trauma surgery training almost 2 years ago. And I was terrified the first couple times I had to operate on anyone. I remember second guessing the other professions in the operating room. Especially anesthetists, I was scared they would get dosages wrong and I would hurt the patient. But you finally stop thinking about patient on the operating table the patient before or after surgery. There is surprisingly little blood in an operation. I expected much more when I first cut someone open. But in trauma surgery, you see worse things than any other form of surgery. I've seen everything from car accidents, gunshot wounds to the unpleasant break through to a man who had impaled himself with scaffolding. You should always chase your dreams especially in something so helpful and great as trauma surgery. Good luck.
