South Beach Self

Self-Namibia and the Kruger National Park Safari?
I will travel to South Africa with my parents who are in their late 70s (im in my early 40s). our plan is to make a six-day self-drive safari in Namibia and then fly to Phalaborwa and makes a seven days self drive safari in Kruger National Park. Is this enough time / too much time to spend in these regions? We have no interest in ALL cities or beaches – Just calm self-drive wildlife viewing. Is this a good plan? Any thoughts or comments much appreciated. Also, how safe are these areas and what do we care? Thank you for your comments. I've heard the term "Township" (And not to go in most of them in South Africa) – the word "township" refers to the obvious and simply mean "Cities," similarly refers we made to them in the U.S..
If you only want to do wildlife viewing, Etosha Pans are the best in Namibia. Even from my memory (was a child when we visited) I think to 5 days for Etosha Pans are a bit too much time. I would take more time to Namibia to see more of the country. The country is streched out and very pretty. From a personal viewpoint, I would visit Namibia not only for wildlife. I would suggest that you visit the southern part of Namibia as well. Must go to Lüderitz in the south – coastal town. Near Lüderitz find ghost town of Kolmanskop – partially covered by desert sands. There is also Elizabeth Bay and a second – can not remember the name – although the latter two are available only with a tour group and special permits. I would suggest that you look at the Namibian tourism website for requirements. A little north is Sososvlei with some of the world's largest dunes (Big Daddy). You can book a Guide at play park beside Sososvlei Lodge take you to a "sundowner". If you go to the key you want to Get Windhoek, the capital – skip it if you want, but there is a lot to see. Old German-style buildings. If you go north from Windhoek, you turn west at Okahanja, towards the coast and the town of Swakopmund – very German. Swakopmund has grown a bit in recent years, but they kept the original building style (German) and was done really nicely. Walvisbay is next to Swakopmund, but has not much to see and do. inbetween the two are Long Beach village – where Angelina Jolie stayed when her daughter was born. On the way to Swakopmund, you will find the famous Spitskoppies right – you need to leave the main road to go there. Some where north is Brandenberg where the famous 'Wit Vrou' (white woman) drawing is to be found in the cave (s) made by Boesmans (Indigenous people of Namibia). If you travel north from Okahanja through Tsumeb against Ovamboland (Oshakati and Ondangua), you pass the lakes and Otjikoto Guinas (the Guinas not be reached from the main road – as far as I know, it is on private property). These two have been fed with the same sounding ground river. The water level is below ground level and depth of the lakes could not created – I stand to be corrected. To the north you will Etosha Pans. I picked up now on a virtual journey from the south west and north – there are many other interesting places I do not know about. Unfortunately I never visited the Kruger National Park (although I live in Gauteng, South Africa) and can not really give you any advice on this. townships, as you've heard of in America would refer to the traditionally black businesses, and not to cities as such. It is not safe to go into townships on their own, and it would be a good thing to avoid them at all. There are some tours that take people to some of the municipalities, as Soweto, but I've never been there. Hope you enjoy your trip to southern Africa.
