What is the purpose of Black, white, and red shield on the German World War 2 Wehrmacht helmets?
I noticed that the helmets of the Wehrmacht German during World War 2 Tri had a small color patch on the right side of their helmets. Does anyone know what the shield signified. It, as the tricolor cockade on the cap, is a tricolor national flag, based on the colors of Imperial Germany, the shield has been introduced in 30 years, originally on the left.
